Cooper’s Crazy Escape

REUNITED: In two hours!

After a fence gate was accidentally left open, Cooper the Labrador Retriever went on a self-guided morning outing. Thanks to his microchip enrolled to AKC Reunite, Cooper was safely reunited hours later!

“One morning the lawn guys forgot to close the gate and Cooper went on an adventure,” recalled Kathy, Cooper’s owner. “I frantically searched the neighborhood, even asked a Sheriff’s Deputy who then asked me if he was microchipped. Lightbulb! Yes, his breeder had chipped him before I adopted him!”

Thanks to Cooper’s breeder for having him microchipped with AKC Reunite, Kathy immediately phoned our representatives to open a lost pet incident and enroll her pet with our 24/7 Recovery Service. Thankfully, Cooper had already been turned in and scanned for a microchip and Kathy’s enrollment helped prove ownership!

“AKC Reunite told me a call had come in from a lady who worked for a local veterinarian,” said Kathy. “She picked him up, scanned his chip, and called AKC Reunite immediately. We were back together in 2 hours and I’m forever grateful to her and AKC Reunite — and the deputy for reminding me of his microchip!”
