Bluey the Beagle!
REUNITED: In 3 days
Enjoying the sanctuary of his backyard, Bluey the Beagle was snatched by a bad actor and then sold to another family! As soon as Jessica realized Bluey was missing, she and her family were hypervigilant in tracking down their beloved pup. Thankfully, they were happily and safely reunited three days later!
When Jessica discovered Bluey was missing, she and her family immediately went into search mode! They opened a lost pet report with AKC Reunite and opted to activate our Lost Pet Alert that we broadcast to participating shelters, veterinarians, and pet lovers in the area. Jessica immediately shared the Lost Pet Alert on Facebook and NextDoor and hung up the printable Lost Pet Alert posters everywhere. Jessica also personally reached out to the local animal shelter and Bluey’s veterinarian so they knew she was searching for him!
“My family and I kept searching tirelessly and asking neighbors if they knew anything,” said Jessica. “The community jumped on it to help us look for him, but we didn’t find anything for two nights. Thankfully, on the third day that he was missing, we got a message through the NextDoor app letting us know that someone had seen him on a street!”
After following up on the NextDoor notification, Jessica was redirected to other sightings of Bluey, and eventually found the home where Bluey had been spotted! From there, Bluey’s new owners — who were unaware they had purchased a stolen dog— relinquished him when it was apparent Jessica was his proper owner!
“I hope no one ever has to go through this, but I will happily help others if they ever are,” said Jessica. “That being said, I am hugely thankful for everyone who jumped in to help me find Bluey. It was a stressful time, but it was warming to know that I had such a strong community to support me and help me navigate through such a difficult time. I am deeply grateful and I am happy to have Bluey back!”
Thankfully, Jessica took all the right steps to protect and find her beloved Bluey. Jessica reported Bluey missing to AKC Reunite immediately, and by activating the Lost Pet Alert, she was able to easily share Bluey’s information throughout her community so everyone could rally for his safe return! Welcome home, Bluey!
